A wine subscription box?
A little while ago La Petit Ballon got in touch and asked if I’d like to review a wine subscription box and then team up with them to give one of my readers the same! I’m not a huge drinker, but when I do drink – it has to be wine. It’s all about the wine. It’s mostly the smell that I like but also the geeky side of me likes to know where it’s from and how old it is. Red wine is my favourite but I also love a bit of rose and white – (So basically aaaallll the wine). With the way my lovely, beautiful, stressful and irritating toddler is at the moment, a glass of wine is well deserved by the end of the day. We’ll sometimes have a glass with dinner or just in the evening on a Friday or Saturday.
What I love about La Petit Ballon is that you can pop on over to their website and tell them a little about your favourite tastes and any particular dislikes. After a little questionnaire they will have chosen two suitable bottles ready to be sent in your subscription box. You can either pick two bottles or they will surprise you each month. I like the idea of a surprise each month! Whenever we buy wine from a shop it always takes a long time – I don’t know that much about wine and so we spend quite a while trying to figure out what ones look nice and what ones don’t. I love the ease of this subscription box – it’ll pick out two top quality bottles for you so you don’t have that added worry of picking out a cheap tasting and nasty bottle of wine (we’ve all done it – right?!).
A La Petit Ballon subscription box comes with their magazine, ‘The Gazette’ which is quirky and fun – I really enjoyed flicking through and giving it a little read. It also comes with two cheat sheets supplying information on each bottle of wine. It’ll recommend you food pairing and give you details on where it’s made with some background information.
Marianne Wine Estate – Okoma 2014 This was my favourite out of the both – I love fruity tasting wine and this one smelt of delicious cherries and berry fruits with a slight hint of a spicy finish. Chateau Le Grand Verdus – This one smelt amazing – Possibly the nicest smelling white wine I’ve ever had. It was incredibly refreshing and had a beautiful fruity floral taste.
