We are so lucky to have Willows Farm right on our doorstep. It’s about a twenty minute drive away and without a doubt there’s always some kind of event happening. They have Santa Spectacular during the Christmas season – we’ve been to this a couple of times and can’t rate it highly enough. They also have an Easter Eggstravaganza which we’ve been to once – and also loved. We had heard of their Summer Spectacular but never actually been, so we decided this year we would! We went towards the end of the season when the weather had cooled down slightly and as expected, we loved it. We did our usual Willows activities, like panning for gold and the tractor ride. If you haven’t been before then it’s definitely worth a visit – there’s so much to do all year round – Along with inside and outdoor activities.
After heading towards all our usual activities, we made our way to the Maize Maze – having never been we had no idea what to expect. It’s Peter Rabbit themed (like a lot of Willows Farm) – they give you a little card and you have to go through the maze finding characters. The characters will have a note on them telling you what number of the card to scratch off. It will then spell out a word and that’s when you can find your way out of the maze and receive a sticker! I won’t lie – we did have to use the emergency exit because we could not find our way out (and Daisy needed a wee – as you do). It also started to get quite hot so we felt like it was time to go! There’s also a little bridge that you can stand on and try to navigate your way out or any lost friends!
Unfortunately the summer spectacular only runs up until the 2nd September – we managed to fit a trip in just before it finished – but thankfully it’s on every year! There are other little activities that run throughout the season such as sports day races, live shows with Peter Rabbit and his friends, goat racing and animal milking demonstrations. Not to mention everything else that Willows Farm has to offer – JCB drivers zone, Peter Rabbit adventure playground, animal feeding, indoor soft play and the farmyard itself. You can see more about their summer spectacular here, but definitely look out for it next year. Also be sure to keep an eye out for pumpkin season as we walked past their pumpkin patch and it’s looking amazing so far!
